Ben Chambers
Ben Chambers is our Registration Manager and has worked at the GOsC for over twelve years. Throughout his career, he has always specialised in healthcare regulation.

What do you do in your role?
In my role, I oversee the integrity of the Register of osteopaths, ensuring it provides accurate and up to date information about qualified professionals. I am responsible for making sure that only appropriately qualified individuals are admitted to the Register.
I also manage the annual renewal process, verifying that osteopaths continue to meet all necessary requirements, including maintaining professional indemnity insurance and fulfilling continuing professional development (CPD) obligations.
In addition, I support the CPD verification and assurance work. This provides a level of quality assurance by monitoring compliance with the CPD scheme. We collect and review this information to ensure osteopaths are meeting the required standards of the CPD scheme and to identify any areas where additional support or resources may be needed.
What opportunities does your role provide?
My role at the GOsC provides a range of opportunities that I find both fulfilling and motivating. One of the aspects I value most is working closely with a variety of stakeholders, including osteopaths and the members of the public. This interaction not only deepens my understanding of the profession and the challenges they can encounter but also allows me to play a direct role in ensuring that patients receive safe and effective care.
I take pride in knowing that my work helps maintain the high standards of the osteopathic profession. By safeguarding the integrity of the Register and overseeing the renewal process, I help ensure that only qualified and competent individuals are able to practise, which ultimately protects the public and upholds trust in the profession.
The GOsC has provided meaningful opportunities for professional development. I have progressed through several roles within the Registration Team before being appointed as Registration Manager, expanding my knowledge of healthcare standards. The level of responsibility and the impact of the work are strong motivators for me.
What is it like working for the GOsC?
Working for the GOsC is incredibly rewarding. One of its strengths, which can sometimes be overlooked, is its size. As a smaller organisation, it fosters a supportive and collaborative working environment. Being part of a smaller team means that everyone’s contributions are valued, and you have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across different departments. This collaboration not only enhances professional development but also allows you to see the direct impact of your work.
It is deeply fulfilling to be part of an organisation that plays such an important role in upholding standards, protecting the public and supporting confidence in healthcare regulation.
What would it surprise people to know about you?
Outside of work, I’m an avid reader of fiction novels and am always on the lookout for my next great read. I also enjoy staying active, whether it’s playing a competitive game of badminton, exploring new trails on a hike, or just taking my dog for long walks.
