Steven Bettles
Steven Bettles is Head of Policy and Education and has a background as an osteopath, having graduated as an osteopath in 1997. He worked in clinical practice and education for many years. Steven has worked at the GOsC since 2016.
What do you do in your role?
I work on the Professional Standards team. My work involves the quality assurance of osteopathic education, and the development of various policy issues, documents and guidance. This involves plenty of engagement and collaboration with osteopaths, education providers, students, patients and other regulators.
What opportunities does your role provide?
I enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the development of the profession, and to support osteopaths in effectively meeting standards in their practice.
What is it like working for the GOsC?
It’s always interesting, and I really enjoy working with colleagues both inside and outside of the organisation.
What would it surprise people to know about you?
I’m still on the register – I don’t see patients these days, but I do have to do meet my CPD requirement.
