New Patient Partner programme launched

Our Patient Partners will play an active role in our Council meetings, advocating for the patient perspective to help influence our strategic planning and decision making. Partners do not have voting rights but will attend Council meetings and take part in discussions.

This new programme is part of our work to deliver our Strategy, helping us to find new ways to ensure the patient voice remains at the heart of all we do. Patient Partners bring lived experience and insight to our projects, helping us to better understand what matters most to patients, improve our communication, and make more inclusive and effective decisions.

Speaking about the appointments, our Chief Executive and Registrar Matthew Redford said:

‘I am delighted to welcome our new Patient Partners to the GOsC for this pilot programme. Their perspectives will be important as we continue our work to make health regulation more inclusive, transparent and patient-focused. Patients are at the heart of what we do, and these appointments will help ensure that their voices shape our future strategy and policy.’

“It’s essential that our decisions reflect the needs and concerns of the public we serve. The Patient Partner role is part of our ambition to be a collaborative and listening organisation. I look forward to learning from our Patient Partners, working together to strengthen public confidence in osteopathic care, and seeing how this pilot programme develops.”
