If you wish to study in the UK to become an osteopath, you must successfully complete one of the ‘recognised’ courses below to be eligible to apply for registration with us.

As well as the name of the institution and the courses each offers, we also provide details of when courses were recognised, latest reviews of the courses and any conditions attached to the approval.

Monitoring standards of education

As part of our ongoing monitoring of standards of education, we conduct a major review of each course on a regular basis, usually every three to five years.

Course providers, courses and course information

The BCNO Group comprises the merged institutions of the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM, London) and the European School of Osteopathy (ESO, Kent). We offer three undergraduate degrees: the four year Integrated Master of Osteopathy (M.Ost) – now in teach out phase, the four year full-time modified attendance BSc (Hons) Osteopathy (London only). Our Kent campus is also the centre for ESO International activity, postgraduate, mentoring and continuing professional development (CPD), and osteopathic and allied health clinical activity.

What qualifications does BCNO Group teach
The BCNO Group delivers a 3 Year BSc (Hons) Osteopathic Medicine programme at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, Kent. Degrees are awarded by the University of Plymouth.

As the validating university of the former College of Osteopaths four year part-time Bachelor of Osteopathy programme, the University took over delivery of the BOst when the College of Osteopaths closed on 28 February 2026.

What qualifications does University of Derby teach
Bachelor of Osteopathy (BOst). This programme is being taught out and recruitment is not taking place.

There are no specific conditions attached to this programme. General conditions that are attached to all recognised courses, are fulfilled on an annual basis, and are set out on this action plan.

A review of the BOst programme and its continued delivery as it is taught out is underway with a review visit planned for 16-17 October 2026. Students, staff and patients have a right to bring information forward information about the provider and their programme. Any comments can be send to education@osteopathy.org.uk. London School of Osteopathy is a single-subject osteopathic educational provider. Academic teaching is delivered in Bermondsey, London, with supervised student clinical training undertaken at a dedicated teaching clinic in Bethnal Green. The School offers undergraduate and integrated master’s routes in osteopathy, with full-time and part-time study options.

What qualifications does the London School of Osteopathy teach
The London School of Osteopathy delivers a 4.5 years part-time or 3.5 years full-time Bachelor of Osteopathy (Hons). They also offer a 5.5 years part-time or 4 years full-time (MOst) Master of Osteopathy. Degrees are awarded by Anglia Ruskin University.

NESCOT is a further and higher education provider based in Ewell/ Epsom, Surrey. Osteopathic education is delivered on campus, with supervised student clinical training undertaken in an on-site teaching clinic.

What qualifications does NESCOT teach
NESCOT delivers a 5 years part-time or 4 years full-time BOst Bachelor of Osteopathic Medicine. They also offer a 4 years full-time (M.Ost) Master of Osteopathic Medicine. Degrees are awarded by London South Bank University.

Health Sciences University delivers osteopathic education through the UCO School of Osteopathy. Teaching is based in Borough, London, with supervised clinical training delivered in a dedicated osteopathic teaching clinic in the same location. The University also operates a campus in Bournemouth as part of its wider health sciences provision.

What qualifications does UCO teach
UCO delivers a (MOst) Master of Osteopathy:

  • 5 years part-time (3 years part-time and 2 years full-time)
  • 5 years part-time
  • 4 years full-time .

They also offer a 2 years full-time Master of Science in Osteopathy (pre-registration).

Plymouth Marjon University delivers osteopathic education in Plymouth, Devon and offers an integrated master’s degree (MOst).

What qualifications does Marjon teach
Marjon delivers a 6 years part-time or 4 years full-time (MOst) Master of Osteopathy.

Swansea University delivers osteopathic education at Singleton Park Campus, Swansea. The programme is offered as a full-time integrated master’s degree, with academic teaching and supervised clinical training delivered through the university’s health education facilities, including the Health and Wellbeing Academy.

What qualifications does Swansea University teach
Swansea University delivers a 4 years full-time (M.Ost) Master of Osteopathy.
