Support and resources for students

We visit students at the different education providers each year to speak on a range of topics related to standards and our work as a regulator, including professionalism and navigating professional boundaries with patients, our fitness to practise process, and the CPD scheme for osteopaths. We do this so students can start to become familiar with who we are, what we do and what we expect of students and osteopaths.

We encourage students to contact us directly with any questions they may have about regulation, and specifically how we assure the quality of their education.

Did you know students are welcome at our Council and Committee meetings?

Students can attend either in person or online as observers. Contact us at council@osteopathy.org.uk to find out more.

Concerns about meeting the standards

If you have any concerns about the meeting of Osteopathic Practice Standards or the Standards for Education and Training, you can always contact us for an informal chat at education@osteopathy.org.uk or 020 7357 6655. You can request that this is a video call if you prefer.

Sometimes, students will not be able to resolve concerns locally. In these situations, we have an education complaints policy to manage any concerns that the education provider is not delivering the required support.

Complaints about individual matters affecting the student will normally need to go to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator. In all circumstances, GOsC will be able to chat through the issues and help you to find the relevant route to resolve your concern.
