Keeping an accurate CPD record throughout your three-year cycle.

You must keep an up-to-date record of all your CPD activities throughout your three-year CPD cycle. Your records must demonstrate that you have:

Every year when you renew your registration, you must declare the number of CPD hours you’ve completed over the previous 12 months, and which themes of the Osteopathic Practice Standards they meet.

Top tips to help record your CPD

Remember: You are legally required to keep accurate records of your CPD, which will help you declare the activities you’ve completed, and will also help you carry out a Peer Discussion Review with a colleague by the end of each three year CPD cycle.

What should your CPD record include?

For each CPD activity, make a note of:

Don’t just record what you did. Record what changed as a result. Reflection is a key part of the CPD scheme.

My CPD record

You can download this editable PDF template to use to record your CPD activities. Each template allows you to record up to 42 separate activities, and to map to the Osteopathic Practice Standards. You can also note whether the activity counts towards your hours spent learning with others, and the impact the activity has had on your practice.

With every CPD activity you do, remember to take the opportunity to think about which themes of the Osteopathic Practice Standards (OPS) you have covered. Many CPD activities will cover more than one theme of the OPS. You don’t need to cover all the standards in any particular theme.

In addition to the My CPD record template, you can also use the the activity record template for any CPD activity to help you consider the themes of the Osteopathic Practice Standards in relation to the case/activity.

Be prepared to provide evidence

We may ask to see some of your CPD records if you are randomly chosen as part of the Verification and Assurance process. If you are chosen, you will be asked to provide one piece of evidence of your CPD activities.

Reminder:

Don’t wait until renewal time. Record your CPD as you go. Keeping clear, accurate records throughout your cycle will make annual renewal, Peer Discussion Review and any verification requests much easier to complete.
