Whistleblowing disclosures joint report for 2023 published

The latest report shows how we have handled whistleblowing disclosures and the action we took as a result, from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Published with the General Chiropractic Council, General Dental Council, General Medical Council, General Optical Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, Health and Care Professions Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Social Work England, the report aims to provide transparency in how whistleblowing concerns are handled by each regulator.

By providing details of the number of concerns raised and the types of action taken in response, we also hope to improve confidence among whistleblowers that their disclosures are taken seriously.

GOsC received four whistleblowing disclosures in this period, two more than last year. One is under review and three disclosures have been closed.

Whistleblowers who raise concerns with us can access our free Independent Support Service at every stage of our fitness to practise proceedings. This service is available to patients, witnesses and osteopaths involved in our investigations.
