Our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging performance report is published

The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) has published its Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) performance report, setting out the work it has done from 1 June 2024 to 30 June 2026, to make further progress against its EDIB framework.

The report explains how we have continued to embed EDIB across our work as a healthcare regulator, service provider and employer. It also shows how we’re taking forward the framework’s four aims: promoting equity, valuing diversity, embracing inclusivity and creating belonging.

From 1 June 2024 to 30 June 2026 we focused on making our regulatory work fair, accessible and informed by a wide range of views. This included work to improve how we listen to and involve patients, osteopaths, students, educators and other stakeholders, and how we use evidence to understand people’s different experiences of osteopathy and regulation.

The report also highlights the importance of an inclusive organisational culture, noting support in the GOsC for staff and non-executives to contribute openly, challenge constructively and help shape decisions that support public protection and confidence in osteopathy.

Our EDIB framework runs to 2030. It sets out how EDIB supports our wider strategy, and how we will continue to review progress, learn from evidence and develop our approach over time.

Matthew Redford, Chief Executive and Registrar at GOsC, said: ‘Our EDIB framework is about making sure fairness, inclusion and belonging are built into the way we work. This report shows the progress we made during this period, and where we will continue to focus our efforts. We know this work is ongoing, and we are committed to listening, learning and acting so that our regulation supports safe, inclusive and effective osteopathic practice.’

The full EDIB performance report for 2024-26 is available on our website. Future reports will be published annually.
