GOsC launches consultation on draft guidance for osteopathy students and educational institutions
The General Osteopathic Council today launched consultations on four sets of draft guidance aimed at osteopathy students and osteopathic educational institutions and would welcome the views of the public, the osteopathy profession and other interested parties.
Draft Guidance about Professional Behaviours and Fitness to Practise for Osteopathic Students and Student Fitness to Practise: Draft Guidance for Osteopathic Educational Institutions set out the professional behaviours and fitness to practise expected of students of osteopathy as well as guidance about the role of osteopathic educational institutions in managing fitness to practise proceedings during courses of study leading to a qualification recognised by the GOsC.
The aim of this guidance, as with all our fitness to practise procedures, is to help to ensure public safety.
The purpose of Draft Guidance for Applicants and Students with a Disability or Health Impairment and Students with a Disability or Health Impairment: Draft Guidance for Osteopathic Educational Institutions is to assist applicants, students and osteopathic educational institutions with issues relating to disabilities and health impairments. It includes information about the types of support available and adjustments that might be made to help students and clarifies the obligations of osteopathic educational institutions under equality legislation.
