GOsC consults on registration fee and indemnity insurance

GOsC opens two major consultations

The GOsC today launched two consultations, one on a reduction to the registration fee and the other on possible changes to the Professional Indemnity Insurance Rules.

The fee reduction consultation asks whether cost savings should be passed on to registrants and, if so, how should the fee reduction be structured. The reduction would apply to all osteopaths who register or renew their registration from 1 May 2014. The closing date for this consultation is 13 December 2013 and further details can be found

The GOsC is also seeking views on possible changes to the Professional Indemnity Insurance Rules. For osteopaths, holding professional indemnity insurance is a condition of registration but this is not the case for all healthcare professions. In the wake of a government review that recommended that all healthcare professionals should have
insurance, changes are likely to be needed to the rules governing professional indemnity insurance for osteopaths.
