GOsC attends launch of new law regulating osteopathy in Gibraltar
A new law came into effect on 15 January making it an offence for practitioners in a range of health-related professions to work in Gibraltar without appropriate registration.
The professions include osteopathy, chiropractic and the 16 professions regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
The launch of the new arrangements was attended by Brigid Tucker, GOsC Head of Policy and Communications, along with Marc Seale from the Health and Care Professions Council and David Howell from the General Chiropractic Council. They were also present for the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between them and the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board.
The new law makes it mandatory for any practitioner in these professions to register with the Gibraltar Medical Registration Board in order to practise in Gibraltar and, in order to register with the Gibraltar Board, practitioners must already be registered with their respective UK regulators, the GOsC, General Chiropractic Council and the HCPC.
There are currently six osteopaths registered with the GOsC as practising in Gibraltar.
