Annual Report and Accounts for 2018-19 published

The report covers an important year for the General Osteopathic Council, which not only saw the appointment of Leonie Milliner as the new Chief Executive and Registrar, but also the end of a three-year Strategic Plan culminating in the publication of the updated Osteopathic Practice Standards and the launch of a new continuing professional development (CPD) scheme.

In the Chair’s statement, Council Chair Alison J White said: “In March 2019, we concluded the final year of our strategic plan of which the highlight was undoubtedly the approval and launch of our new CPD scheme, into which so much effort has been invested during the past three years.

“The scheme was highly influenced by our research into values-based practice which has been so influential as a critical component of ‘upstream’ healthcare regulation”.

In the Chief Executive and Registrar’s introduction to the Annual Report, Leonie Milliner drew attention to the collaborative and supportive role that we play as a regulator: “We have been collaborating in our policy development and research with other osteopathic organisations, with regulators, patients, stakeholders, and with the academic community.

“You can read more about some of our ground-breaking work in this report, for it is precisely this type of long-range innovative thinking that ensures effective contribution of regulation to safe, high quality patient care”.

The Annual Report and Accounts 2018-19 is the second annual report published since the GOsC became a registered charity in 2017.
