Elizabeth Elander
Elizabeth Elander is a GOsC osteopath member of Council and Chair of the People Committee
Elizabeth graduated from The College of Osteopaths in 1995 and quickly established an osteopathic practice within GP surgeries in Northamptonshire and Staffordshire. She was a lead member of the College of Osteopaths’ team that launched the pioneering osteopathy degree in Staffordshire in 2005, and worked as Head of Programme Operations for over 10 years, with a special interest in good governance and diversity.
Prior to her career in osteopathy, Elizabeth worked for the NHS as a public health specialist responsible for commissioning health promotion interventions for the population of Bedfordshire. Also, as Chair of the Health Authority’s Job Evaluation Team, her role was to secure consensus on decisions affecting the pay and status of all staff. Later, she was an assessor for the National Healthy Schools Standard. This involved supporting the Government in meeting its target to achieve 100% compliance with the Standard throughout England; scrutinising complex portfolios of evidence submitted by local authority and health authority partnerships applying for NHSS accreditation; leading visits and interviews with Directors of Public Health, Directors of Education, Directors of Social Services and other top local policy-makers; forming and defending impartial judgements about performance.
Elizabeth has also worked as an education visitor for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and Mott McDonald, and she has been a mentor/supervisor for osteopaths subject to a Conditions of Practice Order.
A qualified teacher, Elizabeth is employed as a senior clinician at the Stoke-on-Trent Osteopathic Teaching Clinic whilst continuing to run her own practice.
