Training courses

If you wish to study in the UK to become an osteopath, you must successfully complete one of the 'recognised' courses below to be eligible to apply for registration with us.

As well as the name of the institution and the courses each offers, we also provide details of when courses were recognised, latest reviews of the courses and any conditions attached to the approval.

Click on a course provider’s name to go straight to information about their courses.

Details of previously recognised qualifications can be found in our History of Recognised Qualifications - January 2015.

Monitoring standards of education

As part of our ongoing monitoring of standards of education, we conduct a major review of each course on a regular basis, usually every three to five years. The review is undertaken by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education on our behalf and information about the process can be found on the QAA website. Anyone with information that they would like to bring to the attention of the Visiting Team is invited to bring this to the attention of the QAA by emailing Joanna Green on j.c.green@qaa.ac.uk.  Further details can be found in the Protocol for unsolicited information.

Feedback or concerns

If you have any feedback or concerns in relation to osteopathic education or the courses we recognise please contact Kabir Kareem on  kkareem@osteopathy.org.uk. All contacts with us will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Possible impacts on existing and proposed students were considered. The visit report incorporating associated conditions can be accessed by clicking here.

SIOM remain responsible for standards for entry and exit to their course and these will be individually assessed for each applicant in this route. The CPL process is applied by SIOM on a case by case basis for each applicant and specific evidence is sought, including the level to which the individual’s diploma maps to the Osteopathic Practice Standards as part of the entry process.  All entrants through this route will only be awarded the RQ if they meet all the Osteopathic Practice Standards.
