Recruitment
Current vacancies
We are currently recruiting for the following:
Investigating Committee members
We are looking for two new osteopathic members to join our Investigating Committee. This is an opportunity to become part of a fair decision-making process for a modern, inclusive and innovative healthcare regulator.
If you are passionate about a sense of fairness and independence, you can grasp and weigh evidence in the balance, you understand the importance of protecting the public and can also appreciate the vital role that osteopaths play in healthcare, then this may be a role for you.
The Investigating Committee (IC) considers all concerns raised against osteopaths received by the GOsC. IC panels make an initial determination about whether there is a ‘case to answer’ and if the matter should be referred to the Professional Conduct Committee for hearing. The IC also has powers of interim suspension in relation to osteopaths.
You will be expected to commit no more than 15 days a year depending on caseload, plus some extra time for mandatory training, reading and annual reviews. The daily attendance fee is £330. We pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.
Appointment starts on 1 April 2026 (initially for up to four years).
If this would be your first non-executive role or your first role in the regulation sector, we welcome your application and you might be interested in registering for our 1-hour recruitment webinar Q&A on Tue 28 October at 6pm. Find out more and sign up.
Closing date: 11:30am on Monday 10 November 2025
In-person interviews: Tuesday 6 January 2026

We are looking to appoint the next Council Associate to join our Council. This is an opportunity for an osteopath to contribute to the work of the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
The aim of the Council Associates Programme is to find and support osteopaths who have the potential to develop their skills and knowledge to take on future board/non-executive roles, either with the GOsC or elsewhere. It also gives Council Associates the opportunity to share their opinions within the discussions that take place, however they are not be able to vote on the decisions made by full Council members.
We are looking for candidates who are interested in personal development. In return, we will provide you with the necessary support and mentoring to give you the best chance of learning and developing new skills. We believe that diversity – including life experience, skill set, and thought – is a strength, and we welcome applications from a wide range of individuals who might be interested in joining our Council.
You will be expected to commit no more than 10 days a year and will be paid £200 a day. We pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses. Appointment starts on 1 April 2026 (initially for up to two years). Note that these positions are only open to osteopaths.
If this would be your first non-executive role or your first role in the regulation sector, you might be interested in watching a recording of our recruitment webinar we held with previous Council Associate Laura Turner last year. Laura shares her experiences, what is involved in the role and answers some general questions from attendees. Please ignore the old recruitment dates. Watch the webinar recording.
