Recognised Qualification for London College of Osteopathic Medicine withdrawn

9 February 2023

The London College of Osteopathic Medicine (LCOM) is no longer running its osteopathy course, therefore the decision was taken to withdraw its ‘recognised qualification’.

Council made the decision to withdraw the recognised qualification, often referred to as an ‘RQ’, at its meeting in November 2022. The decision was approved by the Privy Council in January 2023 in accordance with its powers under section 16 of the Osteopaths Act 1993.

LCOM previously offered an 18-month course for medical doctors, leading to the award of a Member of the London College of Osteopathic Medicine. This became a recognised qualification in May 2000. The final cohort of LCOM students graduated in 2019.

Further details of the decision and the Privy Council letter are available on the GOsC website.
