GOsC welcomes new Council Associate
1 April 2025
Arwel Roberts joins our Council Associates programme following a successful recruitment campaign.
The Council Associates programme aims to identify and develop future governance leaders within the profession who have the potential to develop their skills and knowledge to undertake future non-executive positions, either at the GOsC or elsewhere.
Arwel graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017 and has worked at clinics across the South East of England and South Wales. He currently works as an associate at an established osteopathic practice in Carmarthenshire, West Wales and a multidisciplinary clinic in Neath, South Wales. Arwel has also recently completed the professional membership body the Institute of Osteopathy’s Leadership Accelerator Program in collaboration with the Institute of Leadership.
Arwel (pictured) said about his appointment: ‘I’m looking forward to the learning and development opportunities the Council Associate role offers, developing skills that clinical work may not offer. The GOsC’s strategy for 2024-2030 resonates with my values, and I look forward to being a part of the journey until 2027.’
As a Council Associate starting in April 2025, Arwel will attend GOsC Council four times a year and will be given the opportunity to contribute to meetings and, as a result, towards the strategic direction of the organisation. Osteopaths, students, patients and members of the public are welcome to join the public meetings of Council. To come along, please email council@osteopathy.org.uk
Arwel will be our fifth Council Associate and will be taking over from Laura Turner, whose term came to a close at the end of March 2025.
