GOsC reduces registration fee

GOsC reduces osteopaths’ registration fee.

The annual fee that osteopaths pay the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) is to be reduced from 1 May 2014.

This was confirmed by Council following a recent consultation to determine whether osteopaths wanted cost savings to be passed onto them in the form of a fee reduction, and whether that reduction should apply to all registration fee levels.

The majority of osteopaths voted in favour of both of these options and the fee levels will therefore be adjusted as follows:

Registration levels    Previous fee   New fee
(as of
1 May 2014)
Reduction
Year 1 (entry)   £340 £320 £20
Year 2 UK £455 £430 £25
Year 2 reduced rate £230 £215 £15
Year 3 UK £610 £570 £40
Year 3 reduced rate £340 £320 £20

By implementing a fee reduction for the third successive year, the GOsC has fulfilled the challenge set out in the 2011 Government White Paper Enabling Excellence which required all healthcare regulators to identify significant cost savings over the next three years. However, we will still endeavour to be as cost-effective as we can and to pass on any savings to osteopaths wherever possible.
