General Osteopathic Council publishes annual report 2009-10

The GOsC’s latest Annual Report and Accounts provides an overview of the Council’s activities from April 2009–March 2010.

The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) has published its latest Annual Report and Accounts for the year 2009-2010, which covers the Council’s activities during the 12 months from April 2009 – March 2010.

It is published in electronic format and contains hyperlinks to relevant documents and further information on the GOsC website.

The Council’s report provides an overview of the organisation’s activities for the year under report and highlights key initiatives including:

  • consultation with the profession on revisions to the Code of Practice and the Standard of Proficiency; revalidation for osteopaths; and a scope of practice for osteopathy
  • progress on the development of the revalidation scheme and the revised osteopathic practice standards
  • annual presentations to final year osteopathic students 
  • the establishment, induction and training of a new, wholly appointed Council in 2009 
  • update on work promoting international standards in osteopathy 
  • the launch of a new public website 
  • publication of the Council’s corporate plan for 2010-2013 
  • introduction of a new database management system 
  • research, for example: public and patient expectations and experience of osteopathic care; adverse events in osteopathy; standardised data collection pilot.

The financial pages include the Council’s annual accounts and show how the registration fee paid by osteopaths is spent on the Council’s activities.

In addition, the report includes an outline of key projects for 2010 – 2011.
