GOsC launches consultation on proposed Welsh Language Scheme

The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) has today launched a 12 week consultation, inviting views on its proposed Welsh Language Scheme.

The Scheme sets out how the GOsC proposes to provide services to patients and members of the public who are speakers of Welsh.

GOsC Chief Executive and Registrar Tim Walker said:

“We are committed to treating the English and Welsh languages equally when conducting our business in Wales. We want to hear from osteopaths and patients in Wales, and any other individual or organisation with an interest in these issues, to ensure our scheme is clear and meets the needs of Welsh speakers.”

The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) has a statutory duty to regulate the practice of osteopathy in the UK. Osteopaths must be registered with the GOsC in order to practise in the UK.

As a public body the GOsC is required by the Welsh Assembly Government, under the Welsh Language Act 1993, to prepare a Welsh Language Scheme.

Y Cyngor Osteopathig Cyffredinol yn lansio ymgynghoriad ar Gynllun Iaith Gymraeg.

Heddiw mae’r Cyngor Osteopathig Cyffredinol (Cyngor) wedi lansio ymgynghoriad 12 wythnos, gan wahodd pobl i roi barn am ei Gynllun Iaith Gymraeg arfaethedig.

Mae’r Cynllun yn nodi sut mae’r Cyngor yn bwriadu darparu gwasanaethau i gleifion ac aelodau’r cyhoedd sy’n siarad Cymraeg.

Yn ôl Tim Walker, Prif Weithredwr a Chofrestrydd y Cyngor:

“Rydym wedi ymrwymo i drin y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg yn gyfartal wrth gynnal ein gwaith yng Nghymru. Hoffem glywed gan osteopathiaid a chleifion yng Nghymru, ac unrhyw unigolion neu sefydliadau eraill sydd â diddordeb yn y materion hyn, er mwyn sicrhau bod ein cynllun yn glir ac yn diwallu anghenion siaradwyr Cymraeg.”
