Whistleblowing disclosures joint report for 2024 published
30 September 2024
We’ve published the 2023-24 joint report on whistleblowing disclosures, together with eight other healthcare professional regulators.
The latest report shows how we have handled whistleblowing disclosures and the action we took as a result, from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.
Published with the General Chiropractic Council, General Dental Council, General Medical Council, General Optical Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, Health and Care Professions Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Social Work England, the report aims to provide transparency in how whistleblowing concerns are handled by each regulator.
By providing details of the number of concerns raised and how we have acted in response, we also hope to show whistleblowers that their disclosures are taken seriously.
GOsC received three whistleblowing disclosures in this period, one fewer than last year. Two disclosures are being investigated further and one has been closed after an independent screener agreed that there was not enough relevant, credible and detailed information to help them make a decision.
Whistleblowers who raise concerns with us can access our free, confidential Independent Support Service at every stage of the fitness to practise proceeding. This service is also available to patients, witnesses and osteopaths involved in our investigations.
The Independent Support Service is available 24/7 every day of the year on 0300 303 1964.
