Share your views on draft approach to cancellation of hearing under Rule 19

25 March 2019

We are inviting views on the draft Practice Note: Cancellation of Hearing under Rule 19, which is intended to guide the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) through the appropriate procedure which will in turn help to ensure the PCC adopt a consistent approach to applications, while preserving the safeguards built into Rule 19.

In effect, Rule 19 enables either the General Osteopathic Council or the registrant to make an application to the PCC to conclude a case without a final hearing.

The reasons behind such an application can cover a broad range of circumstances that may arise subsequent to the Investigating Committee’s referral of the case to the PCC.

The Practice Note ensures the PCC takes account of the protection of the public and the wider public interest.

Along with the questions that we are seeking responses to, we also welcome any further comments that you would like to provide. All feedback will be taken into consideration.

The deadline for responses is Thursday 16 May 2019, and responses can be completed online, by email, or by post.
