Regulation in a post-COVID-19 world: briefing paper published

11 March 2021

Nockolds solicitors has published a regulatory briefing paper: Keeping Regulation Relevant.

Designed to stimulate conversation about how regulators will operate in a post-COVID-19 world, the paper reflects on the lessons learned in 2020. It includes insights from the GOsC on health regulation in the context of a pandemic, specifically drawing out the patient experience.

Matthew Redford, GOsC’s Chief Executive and Registrar, said: ‘We would like to thank Nockolds for inviting us to contribute to their briefing paper. The opportunity to be able to share our reflections and our learning arising from the pandemic with a wide audience is hugely important, particularly around collaboration with patients and with our osteopathic and regulatory partners’.

In a section titled ‘Reflections on Health Regulation as a Result of the Pandemic’, Matthew shares GOsC’s reflections under a number of themes. In addition to a key theme of patient voice, other themes include:

  • wellbeing
  • collaboration
  • regulatory reform
  • equality, diversity and inclusion
