New guidance on interim suspensions

5 December 2011

New guidance has been introduced by the GOsC to assist fitness to practise committees.

New guidance on imposing an Interim Suspension Order has been introduced by the GOsC to assist fitness to practise committees. The aim is to achieve a consistent and proportionate approach and provide osteopaths and their legal representatives with further information on the process.

An Interim Suspension Order suspends an osteopath’s registration for a set period if it is considered necessary in order to protect patients and members of the public during an investigation. The guidance is available on this website at: www.osteopathy.org.uk/standards/complaints/our-complaints-process and can also be downloaded by clicking here.
