New Council member appointed

16 September 2025

We are delighted to announce the appointment to Council of David Propert, who joined the GOsC Council from 1 September 2025.

David has been appointed to serve as an osteopath member on Council until March 2029, playing a key role in influencing the General Osteopathic Council’s strategic direction and policy decisions and helping to make sure we can deliver our statutory duties and Our Strategy.

In response to his appointment, David said: ‘I am excited and honoured to be joining Council at this stage in my osteopathic career when I hope to make valuable contributions to the profession that I love. It is vital we ensure effective regulation for osteopathy to successfully manage opportunities, as well as challenges, and I shall be working hard to bring inspiration and advocacy from my grassroots experience.’

Our Chair of Council, Jo Clift, said: ‘We are very pleased to have David as a member of Council. David has been a member of GOsC committees in the past, and has significant experience within the osteopathic profession.  I am confident that he will be a dedicated and insightful Council member.'

David replaces Simeon London who served as an osteopath member on GOsC’s Council from 1 September 2025 until 31 March 2029.

All of our Council member appointments are confirmed by the Privy Council following an open, fair and transparent recruitment process carried out by the GOsC and scrutinised by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, which oversees healthcare regulation in the UK.

Our Council meets four times a year and the next public meeting is due to be held on 19 November 2025. Osteopaths, students, partner organisations and patients as well as members of the public are very welcome to come along to observe our Council’s public discussions. To attend, either in person or online, please email: council@osteopathy.org.uk
