GOsC to attend London Pride 2023

1 June 2023

The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) is delighted to announce that we will be attending Pride in London for the first time on Saturday 1 July 2023.

Pride in London is an annual LGBT+ festival and parade held each summer in London to celebrate the diversity and maximise the visibility of the LGBT+ communities. The event is open to people of all races, faiths, sexualities, and genders, including allies of the LGBT+ communities.

Over recent years the GOsC has been steadily enhancing our approach to issues of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, most notably with the development of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Framework 2021-24. We see our attendance at Pride in London as a further demonstration of our commitment to being an inclusive organisation, regulating a diverse osteopathic profession.

We will have a maximum of 50 people marching in the parade under the GOsC banner. We are working with our colleagues to ensure that, as well as GOsC staff, stakeholders and osteopaths are able to attend and participate in the Pride march.

Matthew Redford, GOsC's Chief Executive and Registrar, said:

‘I am delighted that for the first time in our history, the GOsC will be attending Pride and participating in the parade. GOsC is an inclusive and diverse organisation and being able to celebrate this with other regulators, and importantly with osteopaths, at Pride is so very important. I hope this will be the start of our attendance at Pride for many years to come.’

We are inviting our stakeholders, especially osteopaths, to march with us in the parade and we have wristbands available to share with anyone interested in joining us, but please note that numbers are limited and we will be sharing them on a first come first served basis.

Please do let us know if you are interested in walking in the parade by emailing Stacey Towle: stowle@osteopathy.org.uk by 12 June.
