GOsC freezes registration fees for 7th year in succession

25 November 2020

The GOsC’s Council, recognising the impact the pandemic has had on osteopaths, has agreed to freeze annual registration fees.

The annual registration fee is considered each year by the GOsC’s Council and, at its meeting on 18 November 2020, it agreed to freeze registration fees for a 7th year in succession. Council (made up of five osteopaths and five lay members) recognised the impact of the global pandemic on osteopaths and signalled their support for the profession by holding registration fees at their current level for the financial year 2021/22.

In once again freezing registration fees, Council recognised that by not increasing the fee in line with inflation, this represented a decrease in the fee in real terms. The effects of inflation, which equate to £250,000 over the seven-year period, have been absorbed by the GOsC.

GOsC Chief Executive and Registrar, Matthew Redford, said:

‘Freezing registration fees for a 7th successive year demonstrates that Council recognises the effects of the pandemic on the profession and continues to provide support to osteopaths.

‘The GOsC has proven that we can continue to operate as a cost-efficient and effective regulator, enabling us to absorb the quarter of a million pounds in income lost by not increasing the registration fee in line with inflation over the past seven years.’

You can see how the registration fee is spent in this year’s Annual Report (see page 39).
