General Osteopathic Council accepts offer for sale of headquarter building
9 March 2026
An offer to purchase our office building has been accepted following a decision by Council.
We announced last year that the headquarter building had been placed on the market as part of our drive to ensure value for money for osteopaths and in order to ensure the continued financial sustainability of the GOsC.
The decision to sell our current office is not only part of our aim to be more cost efficient but also so we can better engage with osteopaths, students and patients in different regions of the UK. For example, we will be holding some of our Council meetings in a variety of locations across the UK and we hope this will make it easier for members of the public, osteopaths, students and our partners to observe our discussions and decision making in person.
We have made this announcement in line with our commitment to be transparent and our wish to keep osteopaths, patients and sector organisations updated with progress. However, now that an offer has been received and accepted, there are a number of due diligence and contractual arrangements that need to be actioned before the sale is finalised.
The decision to sell the building was made in accordance with the stringent requirements of charity legislation and guidance which requires trustees to take steps to ensure that they are getting the best value and acting in the interests of the charity’s beneficiaries, which for the GOsC this means for osteopaths and patients. The process included consideration of reports, a number of alternative options and supporting evidence.
The current timeline, if all goes smoothly, suggests that the building sale will be completed before the summer and we will provide a further update when we have more certainty on this date.
