Whistleblowing disclosures joint report for 2022 published

28 September 2022

We’ve published the 2021-22 joint report on whistleblowing disclosures, together with seven other healthcare professional regulators.

The latest annual report shows how we have handled whistleblowing disclosures and the action we took as a result, from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Published with the General Chiropractic Council, General Dental Council, General Medical Council, General Optical Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, Health and Care Professions Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council, the report aims to provide transparency in how whistleblowing concerns are handled by each regulator.

By providing details of the number of concerns raised and the types of action taken in response, we also hope to improve confidence among whistleblowers that their disclosures are taken seriously.

GOsC received two whistleblowing disclosures in this period, one less than last year. Whistleblowers who raise concerns with us are able to access our free Independent Support Service at every stage of our investigations. This service is available to all patients, witnesses and osteopaths involved in our fitness to practise cases.

The Independent Support Service is available 24/7 every day of the year on 0300 303 1964
