New format for osteopaths’ registration numbers

14 January 2010

Following the introduction of a new database, the format of osteopaths’ registration numbers has changed.

The GOsC has recently introduced a new registrant database in order to streamline services and improve efficiency. The new system will allow us to introduce more online processes for osteopaths, such as completing renewal of registration online.

The format of the new system means that individual registration numbers are now being issued and displayed differently.

A registration number previously issued as 13/1234/F, will now be displayed as just ‘1234’ (that is, just the middle section between the two slashes). These registration numbers will consist of one to four digits.

Registration numbers issued from now on will be in the new format and consist of just four digits.

Therefore, if you are trying to check an osteopath’s registration or registration number on the online Register or by contacting us, and the number you have is in the old format, you will now only need to quote these middle digits. More recently registered osteopaths will already be using just a four digit registration number.

If you would like further information on this change to registration numbers, please contact our Registration Team on 020 7357 6655 ext 229 or email: registration@osteopathy.org.uk.
