GOsC updates policy on handling whistleblowing concerns

13 January 2023

Our whistleblowing policy has been updated to make it clearer and now includes further information on the support available to whistleblowers.

Whistleblowing is the raising of a work-related concern about a danger, risk, malpractice or wrongdoing which affects others.

Following our review, the policy on handling whistleblowing concerns, which has been in place since 2014, has been updated to make it clearer and easier for those seeking to raise a concern with the GOsC.

The policy explains the types of osteopathy-related concerns that GOsC can consider and how to raise a concern with us. Further information has been added on the support available to whistleblowers, including from the Independent Support Service, a free service provided by GOsC and run independently and confidentially by the charity Victim Support.

Whistleblowers can access this support service at any time by calling 0300 303 1964 or they can ask GOsC to be referred into the service. The helpline is open 24/7, 365 days a year.
