Jo Clift - Chair
Jo worked at the heart of the UK Government for over twenty years. As a member of the senior civil service, Jo worked across policy, strategy, corporate services, senior appointments and legislation.
Early in her career, Jo was Head of Communications for the BSE Inquiry. Later, she established and ran the Centre for Public Appointments which oversees board appointments across Government. She subsequently led the creation of draft legislation to combine two Ombudsman organisation. Jo also spent time as a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting.
Jo currently works as a Non-Executive Director and consultant. She has held Board roles at the professional membership body the Institute of Osteopathy, the Government Internal Audit Agency, the Road Safety Trust and a Long COVID charity.
As a consultant, Jo advises organisations on Board effectiveness, and works with organisations who want to understand and engage with government. Her clients include Whitehall departments and agencies, universities and private sector organisations.
