General Osteopathic Council

Training courses

On this page there is information about the osteopathy training courses that are recognised by the General Osteopathic Council.

If you wish to study in the UK to become an osteopath, you must successfully complete one of the 'recognised' courses below to be eligible to apply for registration with us. As well as the name of the institution and the courses each offers, we also provide details of the course recognition period, recent review reports and any conditions attached to the approval of courses. Click on a course provider’s name to go straight to information about their courses.

Details of previously recognised qualifications can be found in our History of Recognised Qualifications - September 2014.

New courses are recognised from time to time and when there are courses seeking recognition we will include information about them on this website.

Monitoring standards of education

As part of our ongoing monitoring of standards of education, we conduct a major review of each course on a regular basis, usually every three to five years. The review is undertaken by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education on our behalf and information about the process can be found on the QAA website.

You are invited to submit feedback to the QAA by emailing Dr David Gale on d.gale@qaa.ac.uk. Details can be found in the Protocol for unsolicited information.

Feedback or concerns

If you have any feedback or concerns in relation to osteopathic education or the courses we recognise please contact Kit Holmes on Kholmes@osteopathy.org.uk or 020 7357 6655 ext 240. All contacts with us will be treated in the strictest confidence.
