GOsC seeks new Chair of Council

Our current Chair retires next year and we are seeking a new Chair, lay or osteopath, to take office in April 2012.

Adrian Eddleston, the current Chair of the General Osteopathic Council, will be retiring in March 2012, and we are seeking a new Chair, either lay or osteopath. The appointment will be designate from 1 December 2011 and the new Chair will take office on 1 April 2012.

The Chair’s role

The principal role of the Chair is to lead and guide the Council in discharging its statutory function – ensuring the protection of the public through the development and regulation of the osteopathic profession – and to be the principal spokesperson for the GOsC. The Chair will work with the Council members and the GOsC’s staff team, engaging with the osteopathic profession and other key stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • an experienced leader and effective strategic thinker
  • an effective influencer and communicator, and a team player
  • able to hold themselves and others to account within the context of statutory healthcare regulation.

In addition, osteopath candidates should have knowledge/ experience of osteopathic clinical practice and an understanding of relating professional standards to public protection.
