GOsC seeks new Head of Regulation

The GOsC is seeking to recruit a Head of Regulation. As a key member of the senior leadership team the Head of Regulation plays a pivotal role in delivering the GOsC’s fitness to practise functions and other regulatory activities. In addition, the post holder advises and leads on a range of issues related to the GOsC’s regulatory functions and on all legal matters arising for the GOsC.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone creative and flexible who can take on new challenges we are facing, not least as a result of legislative changes proposed by the Law Commission. We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister, with knowledge of the regulatory/professional body sector who can contribute to a modern, forward-thinking regulator and be part of an ambitious leadership team.

The role

  • Responsible for overseeing the management of the GOsC’s regulatory function and the maintenance of effective complaints handling and protection of title processes.
  • Responsible for effective functioning and governance of fitness to practise committees/panels.
  • Responsible for policy development for fitness to practise and guidance for osteopaths.
  • Acts as in-house counsel and deals with all legal matters including Data Protection, Freedom of Information and drafting of legislation.

The person

  • A qualified solicitor or barrister with knowledge and experience of regulation or professional conduct.
  • Excellent communication skills, including high level drafting experience and with the proven ability to build strong relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to lead and motivate their team.
  • Creative, innovative and looking to be part of a high performing senior leadership team.
