Dr Joan Martin
Dr Joan Martin is a GOsC lay member of Council and is a member of the Policy and Education Committee
She is a retired occupational therapist and educator with substantial experience of representing the patient interest in the health arena. She has served on a number of UK and Northern Ireland public bodies including, until December 2012, the General Medical Council, where she chaired the Fitness to Practise Committee, and the Council for the Professions Supplementary to Medicine (now the Health and Care Professions Council) where she represented Northern Ireland on the Occupational Therapy board for 20 years.
Currently, Dr Martin is a member of the Council of the Inns of Court Tribunal Board, a member of the Invited Review Board for the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Bar Tribunal Adjudication Board, a member of the Consumer Council (Northern Ireland), a panel member of both the Disability Living Allowance Appeals Panel and the Special Educational Needs Tribunal, and a panel member to the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency.
