Our social media

Our aim in using social media is to:

  • provide information to anyone with an interest in osteopathic care and our work
  • provide bite-sized pieces of information accessible to people on the move
  • communicate with people who might not usually visit this website
  • keep stakeholders and followers up to date with new developments
  • enable our followers to contribute to our work through consultations, feedback and more.

Facebook

We will post on our Facebook page items of news and information and links to further information that we think will be of interest, and invitations to send us feedback and views. We welcome feedback and ideas and try to respond wherever possible. However, we are not able to respond individually to all the messages we receive.

Any responses that we do publish are correct at the time of posting. In some cases we may pass comments on to the relevant people within the GOsC.

We will remove any abusive comments and derogatory remarks to ensure that this page remains a pleasant, safe, positive and enjoyable place for all – see our Facebook user policy or ‘What we expect of users’, below.

We will update and monitor our Facebook page during office hours (9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday).

Twitter

We will generally post up to three tweets a week, including items of news and information, links to further information that we think will be of interest, invitations to send us feedback and views, retweets of relevant news and information. We welcome feedback and ideas and try to respond wherever possible. However, we are not able to respond individually to all the tweets we receive.

Any responses that we do publish are correct at the time of posting. In some cases we may pass comments on to the relevant people within the GOsC.

To ensure that our Twitter page remains an interesting, safe, positive and enjoyable place for all, users will be blocked and/or reported to Twitter if they are abusive, make derogatory remarks or post spam. See our Twitter user policy or ‘What we expect of users’, below.

We will update and monitor our Twitter page during office hours (9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday).

What we expect of users

We expect users to behave with respect for us and for other page members. This includes not posting or tweeting:

  • derogatory or abusive comments
  • rude or aggressive posts
  • spam
  • private information about anyone, including osteopaths and patients
  • insensitive, inappropriate or upsetting comments about individuals
  • discriminatory comments, content or links.

We will not tolerate any discrimination against anyone on the grounds of their race, colour, nationality, religion, ethnic or national origins, sexual orientation, disability or age.

If abusive behaviour continues we will take action to prevent the perpetrators from having access to or following our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Queries about individual osteopaths should be sent to info@osteopathy.org.uk.
