New osteopathic leadership programme invites applications

16 April 2015

Applications are now open for the 2015 Osteopathic Development Group Osteopathic Leadership Programme.

The Osteopathic Leadership Programme is a collaboration between The Open University (OU) and the Osteopathic Development Group (ODG) - a partnership between the leading organisations of the UK’s osteopathic profession.

It offers the opportunity for those looking to develop their leadership skills or build their confidence in taking on a leadership role. The programme is aimed at any osteopath who wishes to apply leadership skills in clinical practice, a professional group, education or research. Places (up to 20) are being offered on a competitive basis to any GOsC-registered osteopath who can demonstrate that their participation will be of benefit in their current or future work, and to the wider UK osteopathic profession.

The programme is built around an existing 25 hour OU distance learning leadership course and a supported work-based assignment, with the addition of two face-to-face workshops led by Judy Armitt of the OU and supported by existing leaders working with the osteopathic profession. The workshops will enable participants to identify their learning needs in the context of the osteopathic profession and to apply their learning in their future professional lives.

The full programme details can be downloaded here and an application form for the programme here. The closing date for applications is Friday 22 May.

Details of the OU course ‘Developing your leadership style (BG005)’ which forms the core e-learning activity are available here. There is also a dedicated OU webpage for the programme containing free learning resources for osteopaths: http://contact.ouworldwide.com/osteopathic-council.html.
