UK health and social care regulators: who are they and what do they do? |
The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) is one of 13 organisations in the UK known as health and social care regulators. Each organisation oversees the health and social care professions by regulating individual professionals. The regulators are set up to protect the public so that whenever you see a health or social care professional, you can be sure they meet the required standards. An information leaflet explaining the work of each regulator and how to contact them is available in 13 different languages (select to download):

Who is registered? |
|
Anyone from one of the professions listed below must register with the relevant regulator. If they are not, then they are breaking the law and can be prosecuted. The registers are made up of only those professionals who have demonstrated high standards of safety and competency. Because regulation is so important to standards of treatment and care, the registers are open to the public. If you want to check your professional is registered, you can do this online or contact the relevant regulator. |
