Investigating Committee Decision-making Guidance

We are consulting on draft guidance for the Investigating Committee intended to ensure that its decision-making process is easier to understand and more transparent.

Documents to download:

The consultation

The Investigating Committee (IC) carries out the initial investigation of a complaint against an osteopath when there is an allegation of serious unacceptable conduct, professional incompetence or matters relating to ill health.

The guidance that the Investigating Committee uses to make decisions about which matters should be referred to a public hearing has been updated, taking into account views of members of the IC and the GOsC’s Policy Advisory Committee.

This draft guidance updates and incorporates into one document the existing Investigating Committee Decision-making Guidance, an accompanying flow chart, and the Threshold Criteria for Unacceptable Professional Conduct. These are available on the Our complaints process page of this website.

We would like your views on the draft guidance. The feedback we receive will be taken into account in the production of the final guidance.

Please read the consultation document before answering the consultation questions.
