Background to the consultation
We recently reviewed our Indicative Sanctions Guidance. As part of our review, we have substantially revised the guidance and produced this draft Hearings and Sanctions Guidance. It is designed to make parties who are attending a hearing aware of the procedure and approach taken by the Professional Conduct Committee during a hearing and when imposing a sanction.
Fitness to practise committees reach their own conclusions about the evidence they hear. However, it is important that the decisions they make uphold confidence in the osteopathic profession, protect the public, and maintain and uphold professional standards. We also want to be sure that the guidance is fit for purpose, accessible to all and encourages consistent, proportionate and transparent decision making.
Please read the consultation document before answering the consultation questions.
